The Role

As a Data Annotator Team Lead, you are responsible for leading, training and motivating a team of data annotators. This position requires a background in, or ability to learn and understand data annotation and labeling across a broad range of mediums to include video, image, audio, and text. If you have solid people leadership and project management skills, then this position may provide you with an enriching career opportunity.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading a team of Data Annotation specialists in annotation and labeling projects.

  • You will work with the team to sift through large volumes of unstructured and semi-structured data to identify the right content to annotate with the right label.

  • Work closely with the client on building out the tools and platforms utilized in data labeling and annotation.

  • Create, analyze, and report on performance metrics such as throughput, timeliness, and accuracy.

  • Develop technical domain expertise in areas of labeling and annotation.

  • Define quantitative metrics to measure and improve data quality.

  • Ability to delegate and coordinate the efforts of your team.

  • Develop and deploy standards appropriate to the business needs across all performance aspects, continually benchmarking performance.

  • Ability to learn, and then train annotators in new technologies and processes on a frequent basis.

  • Maintains staff by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Data Annotator Team Lead or Supervisor

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, data sciences and analytics, or related fields is preferred but not required

  • Proven experience managing people and processes.

  • Operations and project management experience 

  • Relevant experience working with machine learning and annotation products and processes.

  • Demonstrated coaching and counseling skills used to effectively develop employees; influence and develop individual behavior and assist employees to achieve a high level of success and productiveness.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain a consistent teamwork mentality.
